Spotlight on Captain
Hi, my name is Captain, but before we go any farther let me kiss your hand. I kiss everybody's hand, that way they know that I'm their new friend. I am seven or eight years old. Nobody knows for sure since I don't have tattoos like other greyhounds. I was found as a stray and brought to Denver to find a new forever home. I love everybody, and don't like being alone (though kenneling isn't necessary...I just bark when I'm lonely.) I'd be happiest in a home with another dog buddy and I love kids of all sizes. Cats make me perk my ears up, but I really don't quite know what to think of them, so I mostly ignore them.
My back legs are a little funny. It has been scary as I’ve gone to several vets and been on a different medications as we try to find out what is wrong. I’ll probably need painkillers for the rest of my life. I get around quite well, I just don't run like a greyhound. My foster mom says I "galumph" and that I'm charming. I hope I can find a forever family who doesn't mind a galumphing greyhound! My most embarrassing problem is that my medical problems cause incontinence. Sometimes bad. After months and months of constant messes, it appears to be getting better. Now I can go several hours without making a mess in the house. I am so proud of myself! I hate to make a mess, and get embarrassed when it happens. But due to my problems, I can’t always tell when I need to go. It isn’t my fault. I hope I can find a patient forever family who will love me even if I sometimes make a mess.
Despite my problems, I am fun, playful , loving and want to be where you are. I will follow you room to room, sleep by your bed, wait patiently next you for scritches and scruffles. I am loving and gentle and I want so much to find a family of my own.
If you can’t be my forever home, please consider a donation to CGA. They have paid some big bills and I’ve been lucky enough to see specialists and try out some expensive medicine. It’s donations from people like you that let me have a chance at a new life.
